1994 Ford ranger intake

So after I put an aftermarket cold air intake on my truck it started to lose almost all rpms limes would press on the gas and barely get any acceleration. I never did reset my cpu in my truck, but does anyone else have a clue why it would do that?

thank you

Rangers come factory with a “cold air intake” it’s a tube that goes from near the front headlight to the air box through the intake. Putting a “cold air intake” on it made it a “hot air intake

+1 ^^^

The Ranger air filter and box provides 200% of required air flow needed by the engine
So filter can get quite dirty before engine operation is effected

After market CAI filters can be smaller so can restrict the air flow

In any case the MAF sensor must be in place for engine to work properly, its the 4 wire sensor on the air plenum(tube)
Never use "oil bath" filters with MAF sensor systems

And remember the general rule of thumb, if you can HEAR air being sucked into an engine then air flow is turbulent and usually restricted as well, QUIET air flow in means GOOD air flow
