1995 ford ranger coolant issues

Have a 1995 ford ranger 4.0. Have a issue and it’s driving me crazy so any help. My temperature gauge will stay on normal operating temp while driving for about 3 or 4 minutes. Then it moves up above Halfway then instantly drops back down to operating temp. I have change the sensor, sender, top radiator hose and 3 different thermostats. Can not get the problem solved so any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum

If it moves up and down randomly then the heater core is partially blocked up

You can temporarily by pass it to see if the random up and down goes away.

Reverse heater hoses at the firewall that can get a another year out of the core, maybe...............this should be done on all vehicles when you change the coolant or every 2 years, reversing flow makes core last longer

If gauge ONLY goes up when stopped and then goes down when you start to move again, then Fan Clutch has failed, might be old water pump but more likely the fan clutch

After engine AND radiator are warmed up, shut off the engine, open the hood and try to spin the fan blades, should not spin, you can move it but not spin it at all, if it spins the replace fan clutch
