I haven't been on here in a long time, but today I come to you with a question! I just replaced a stripped oil pan bolt (thanks again mechanic) with a new bolt. I believe the new bolt was sized 14-1.50. On replacement, the new bolt threaded in about two full turns and then tightened up. I ended up cranking it down and am no longer leaking oil. My question is, next oil change, I want to replace that bolt with one of those quick change valves (http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/). I want to permanently screw the valve into the oil pan before it completely strips out. I was wondering what you all think I should use to permanently bond the valve with the pan. Also what size valve should I order? I have an 02 ranger edge v6 3 liter.

You could weld it but welding and oil don't mix to well.

 

They also make kits for stripped oil pan bolts. t hey are basically oversized self tapping bolts. If you want to use the drain, might have to retap for a bigger size.

 

I would just helicoil the stripped hole and use a new bolt. I did the exact same thing to my truck wednesday. Those quick drain valves are a waste I had one on my last car and it ended up snapping the little handle

 

i'll second ranger dave...perfect idea and cheaper than a new oil pan

Go to home depot or Lowes or a ace with the bolt my package is in my box at work. Anything slightly bigger will work
