I ordered Precise fuel pump 402-P2002 and the required same brand strainer to meet the pump warrantee requirements for my 92 Ranger from Rock Auto. I received the pump and screen and found that the pump had a crack in the plastic where the negative terminal is pressed in. No problem I returned that for a replacement and 5 days later I received the replacement pump. I opened that box and found the second pump had the same crack in the plastic and same location. I sent that pump and the screen back for refund and being a old customer I ordered another pump but different brand. The third one was a SPECTRA PREMIUM fuel pump and again I ordered the same brand screen/filter as per warrantee requirements.
I received that pump and when I opened up the box I found that the parts bag was ripped open as well as the pump bag. This told me someone had this before and was a return. Further inspection I found that the rubber plug that should be on the outlet tube was missing. Then I removed the bottom rubber plug to find that there was a mystery brass washer stuck under the intake pump metal screen that does not belong in there or was out of place. No wonder it was returned but they simply resold the faulty pump to me. All said and done I returned that pump as well with the screen for a refund.
Now I sent pictures to rock auto of these pumps and they did refund my money for the pump and screen but THEY ARE RIPPING ME OFF ON THE SHIPPING. First order I got the 2 in the road bad pumps when ordered shipping from their cart was 8.07 for the pump and when I put the screen/filter in the cart the shipping stayed the same. Rock Auto claims nothing was wrong with the screen and are still useable even though they provided me with unusable faulty pumps. The screen was for with was my choice to not keep so shipping is prorated. NOW for a part that did not add shipping cost in the order to start they say the refunded shipping goes like this. Pump cost 2.17 to ship and refunded but the 3oz screen cost 5.90 in my order and they will not refund that even though they made the screen useless. Somehow that free to add in the shopping cart when ordered became most of the cost to order.
Third Faulty bump and screen cost me $6.25 and again because they sent me a DEFECTED, RESOLD, RETURNED FUEL PUMP I returned that one and again they claim the same thing and also prorated the shipping like this; Pump shipping was 1.27 and refunded but the 3oz screen/filter cost 4.98 and my cost to eat. Again when ordered the screen/filter did not add any further shipping when ordered with the pump but when returned due to them selling me the previously returned faulty pump and created the screen useless to me and not their fault the mystery light weight item cost more to ship and my cost.
Bottom line- We will sell you junk but we will still screw you on shipping to order the junk if you ordered anything with it. I gave then 3 tries and received 3 junk parts and they screw me.

I spend a lot of time when I buy from them making sure I am getting the best parts available for my Ranger. I have been fortunate in that I have never had a serious problem with items from Rock Auto. The few minor issues were fixed with no question. I have been ordering from them for many years.

I know that is not what you were asking for but that is my experience with them.

 

Going through them has saved me a TON of money on tie rods and brake parts.

 

I remember when JC Whitney was a great mail order company for auto parts and saved you big then they went to **** just like Rock Auto is going now.
I used Rock Auto from their web beginning and the few non fit parts there was no problem getting my dollars back with original shipping cost. Customer service was pleasant also but that was a few years ago. Now it is a different story and you get rude customer service. Now that Rock Auto has become more of a new part drop shipper instead of a overstock or close of a business parts clearance your getting junk new parts, returned presold junk. Then they want to rip you off on the shipping you spent to get the garbage. Save you money I will not argue in 80% of the time if their shipping rate to get the part is not extremely high. Now you can find a lot of their same parts cheaper on the web with free or cheaper shipping.
As my post said tell use about the rip off, wrong part listed and bad parts you received.
Rock auto has gotten to big now and you don't mean nothing to them. Read the BBB reports. Big increase in the last year.
