2000 ranger ffv
 

whats the fuel pump voltage supposed to be,,i'm reading 7.0-7.1 volts at the pump,, :261: but doesn't work at all..is voltage reduced on purpose or do i have a problem,,thanks wayne p.s: its a ffv 3.0 engine

what year is the truck? how many miles are on the truck? If the pump doesn't work, its likely that its bad, or has loose connections/ground. You could try having somebody try to start the truck while you hit the gas tank with a rubber hammer. Sounds stupid, but i've heard of it working a few times. My auto teacher, and someone that has done it told me that it might work (b/c it worked for them).

Yeah, 7 volts is a problem.

It needs 12. Take the connector off the inertia switch in the passenger footwell and put a jumper in the connector contacts, then check the voltage again. Be sure to check for 12v at that inertia switch connector too (do that first).

Could be a ground problem. Ground 200 is on the driver side inner fenderwell (under the hood).

The OTHER place I'd look is at the large disconnect connector under the driver seat under the truck. Lots of water intrusion and corrosion problems occur there. I'm trying to confirm it is routed through there, but kinda busy with work interrupting my R-F surfing, lol.

Have you swapped out the fuel pump relay? You can check for 12v there too. You could jumper those contacts (with the relay removed) and see if your voltage goes to 12v (bad relay).

Well i got the truck running,it was my sons truck,,he's passed now and it wasn't running the last week he was alive,,we were going to work on it,,that was 2 years ago...anyway the fuel pump was shot,,replaced it and it ran,,like crap but it ran,,so i figured 2 year old gas couln't be a plus so i drained the tank and put 5 gals of gas and a can of sea foam and removed and cleaned the MAF...started it up and runs really good now,,gotta take the frontend loader and move the bed from behind the truck so i can drive it around the field before i put the bed back on,,also want to pressure wash the frame and paint it,,its terrible the way a 2000 model here in florida can be so rusty,,mud gets on there and all the stuff in the soil act as an acid when wet,,keep'em clean,,wayne

I'm afraid if I took off my bed, I'd spend the next week with a pressure washer and POR.
