2001 3.0 transmission issue
 

I have a 2001 3.0 and it reverses fine, but when I put it in drive, the transmission slams into gear and behaves irrationally. Od light comes on and doesn’t shift properly. If I drop it in L from P or R, let it go in gear, then shift into D, then the transmission operates perfectly. So to use the truck, I crank it, back out of my driveway, put it in L for a couple of seconds, then up to D. Any ideas on what’s up?

It could be just a valve body issue, reading the Transmission codes will tell you more, OD OFF light coming on means there are codes
