What should I do to my 1978 4X4 Ford Courier?

I was planning to fix it up. It has a regular 4 cylinder Ford Ranger engine in it- I guess the old engine blew up or something.
I have already started sanding on it because the body is rusted pretty much but I can still save it by using Bondo (yessss). The floorboard in it is pretty rusted and has some holes in it (I will possibly get sheetmetal and weld it to the floorboard). It has no backbed though and I was just planning to just leave it a flatbed. The 4x4 locks needs to be fixed on it and other things. It has a Carbuerator on it too.... and it needs to be worked on.

What should I do to it? Save it? Leave it be? Or what?

Ah the good ol' Courier. What a retro looking truck!

I say fix it up, take it back to stock, and make it a classic!

Well mine is 4x4. They only made a couple of 4x4 ones. They mostly made 2wd ones.

Want me to show pictures of it?

I HATE THUMBNAILS!

How do you know it's a "Ford Ranger" engine?

Looks like the same engine in my 1999 Ford Ranger but someone turn this Ranger engine to wear it is not Fuel Injected. They made it into a carbuerator type. :-\

Asked a mechanic here in my town and he said the old Ford Courier engines were special, but he said the Ranger motor is better in it for some reason?

Hah, I wish.

I was thinking about painting the Confederate Battle Flag on the hood. :)

Some of the 4x4's were conversions. If it has a divorced transfer case, it may be.

I'd definitely do something with it. It's an unusual piece. Stock or built, it's unique since not a lot of them survived and all. Most turned into rust buckets.

me personally i would turn it into a mud machine but since its a rare one might as well restore it and make it an antique show truck and you could probably get more money out of it that way

I was planning to bog with it, when I need to or want to, but I won't mistreat it. I won't stomp on it.

I probably put a bigger engine in it later or just leave the one in it.

Is the 2.3T powerful?

I may just use sheetmetal for the floorboard and just drill sheetmetal screws around it. Is that a good idea?

Those are cool little trucks. I think going back to stock looking would be the ticket. I used to have two like this before I could even drive. My dad used one and got hit by some guy on the rear corner of the cab. Ended up selling both of them to my aunt, one for parts the other for driving. ahh memories

Since it's 4x4 I'd say restore it, but if it were a 2wd slammed Couriers look sweet.
