2003 FX4 LF hub replacement
hey all...question when i got my truck inspected last week the tech said my LF wheel had excessive play to it which means the bearing is starting to go bad....not bad enough to fail...he said that i need a new hub because it is a sealed unit...I was just wondering if anybody has replaced one of these before because i really dont want to take it to the dealer and shell out 400 bucks...thanks in advance for help

I think its just a matter of unbolting it out of the front end and putting in a new one once you get the tire and rotor off but I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty sure they are one non-servicable unit but I'm not sure. We had a new one put on the rear of our MKX because the bearing was making noise but it was done under warranty so it was free. I know it was one piece. Might want to check your ball-joints and tie rod ends before you drop the cash on the hub assembly. I'm sure they aint cheap.

yepper well first the hub itself is expansive. you take off the tire, remove the brake components, disconnect the ABS plug and un-snap the wires from the clips, remove the large CV nut, remove the 3 bolts holding it on. some need the hub puller that can be rented at an auto parts store some dont neither of mine needed it just a couple hits with a hammer and it came right off
