I am new to the community and have been all over the internet with one simple question. Can I make the Bushwacker flares fit my 2004 fx4 or what it is that makes the fx4 different from other trim packages. I see many people have asked this before but no answer from anyone who has done it . This is the description from Bushwacker website. (Fender Flare Set for 1993-2011 Ford Ranger (Excludes FX4) I currently have the oem flares that are fading badly and really want to change them not clean or paint them.

The problem with flares is that there are three different variations of mounting holes in the fender. 93-00 have one style of mounting hole spacing, 01-05 have another, and then in 06+ the flares became taller and the mounting holes are up higher on the fender. But the Bushwacker flares mount on the underside of the fender using the wheel liner screws, so I'm not sure why they exclude Fx4 since they don't even use the upper factory mounting holes. The flares are the same between Edge and Fx4 trucks aside from the painted vs. textured finish.
Hi folks! New to the forum, and have enjoyed exploring all the great information available. I have searched extensively, and read perhaps a dozen threads on this topic, and I'm still confused by the conflicting opinions. This old thread looked the most relevant to resurrect.
I have a 2003 FX4 Level II that had it's fender flares removed at some point in its history. It looks pretty silly with naked fenders with all those holes showing, so I'd like to cover them up as simply as possible. I corresponded with two of the vendors on eBay, who are adamant that their flares will not fit an FX4.

I don't know why there is still bad information floating around regarding these trucks. The only issues with fender flares is that the factory holes are spaced differently. For example, 93-97(or maybe 2000) have the holes spaced a certain way. 2001-2005 have the holes spaced a different way. And then the 2006-2011 flares are larger, so the holes are higher up on the fender. The trim level does NOT make a difference. No matter what any of these ridiculous companies keep saying, trim level does not matter. Year matters, depending on how the flares mount to the fender.
Thank you for the replies. Yeah, it wouldn't seem to make sense to have different hole patterns for different trim levels and have to manage a whole separate fender SKU. It would be really great if someone who installed flares on a 2001-2005 FX4 could confirm and share where they acquired them.
