2007 fx4 off road ranger
whats the market value on a 2007 fx4 off road ranger with 6400 original miles?. my wife will need a newer car soon as her 97 honda civic might need a trans. i was thinking maybe trading my ranger in but i know i wouldnt get S___t for it. KBB looks kind of high on private sale. i would hate to let it go but i have to do it when her car goes. i cant have 2 car payments with this bad economy. thanks. ps the truck is loaded as i ordered it from the dealer in 2007.

Well..trucks are very handy..if you ever had to I would certainly not be a fan of moving stuff around or whatever the case is in a Civic. Like you said, you wouldn't get much for your truck on a trade in, however you would get peanuts for the civic. It really is a hard decision to make and I would try to keep both if I could, If not..I think it would be easier to sell the Civic at times like this, if people are looking for a car, its going to be something that gets 40mpg. I would probably get rid of the civic. Depending on what kind of trans you need for the car, you can usually come across one fairly easily, and they are cheap. I know the 92-00's and possibly fairly newer hydraulic manual trans are all interchangable, as well as the automatics..the D series and related components are very, very common

Keep the Ranger no matter what. It's a new, reliable vehicle, still with warranty. There's nothing wrong with it. Why would you sell the good vehicle so that you can fix the crappy 10+ year old car you have?
Get rid of the clunker and buy whatever suitable vehicle you can afford and you keep the truck for yourself.
Unless you want to get out of making vehicle payments, then that is the only sane reason I would see to get rid of the truck.

I say keep the truck, but if you really are gonna get rid of it, http://www.kbb.com/ is the kelly blue book site. How I looked up the price of mine when I bought it. Just a lil note though, no matter what they give you on trade, they are just gonna raise your interest rate on the new car to make it still fit the same amount of money. If you do do a trade in, use your own lender and don't tell em that you have the money till they want to do the paper work and you have already jewed em down some.
