I now have 10 cylinders of ranger-goodness..

Looking for a "I swapped a V10 in my ranger" thread?

Sorry!

But I bought another ranger (for the winter)

My blue truck is just too nice for me to drive this winter (the 3.0) so I bought a 2003 basic bare bones 2.3 L4 DOHC with an automatic! (lol, I know I couldn't find a stick) Truck has 77,000 miles and a bunch of problems.

Some pics...

I threw a P0171 and found a few vacuum leaks (3!) one was really obvious, its just a ghetto fix for now.

This will be a NO MODS truck, just trying to get it super reliable for the winter (yes that means no LEDs )

Right now I'm trying to get all the parts I need.

The drivers headlight is loose because the sheetmetal bracket clip that goes on the inside is missing (you know the ones you have to pull up to remove the lights)

Anybody have one of these I can buy?

I also need a new degas bottle. The one in it was cracked and it leaks pressure when the cooling system is pressurized. This will affect the usefulness of the coolant so I need to change this asap.

Anybody have a degas bottle I can buy?

This is the clip I need:

This is the bottle I need:

These 2 hoses were just vented to air, leaking vacuum. I think this might have been part of the cause of my P0171. I'm trying to figure these out from the vacuum diagram on the front support.

Nice truck. If no one has that bottle try a j/y, and replace that flag style mirror! At least make 'em match. A j/y would have that headlight bracket thing you need as well.

I tried yesterday, went to 3 of them. They didnt have any newer rangers with the same headlight setup I have, and they didnt have any 2.3's either.

I have to turn a pop-can sideways in order to fit over it, plus even in the rain I can spin all 4 tires at 60mph on the highway, not a good idea. Not to mention salt & rust which is the main reason I bought the white truck.

This week and last week I:

Changed the oil and fiilter
Changed front pads, spun rotors.
Changed rear pads
Changed fuel filter
Changed air filter
Changed wires/plugs

Got only 22.1 MPG this tank (mostly highway)

Be interested to see how the maintenance helps the mileage next tank.
