2011 Ranger
hey i came across this, i thought you guys would want to see it.
2011 Ford Ranger Revealed .: Articles
2011 Ford Ranger Revealed .: Articles
? I dont even see a picture with the article.
There have been two rumors on the subject of the Ranger.
1) A scaled down F150, basically a F100. Similar look to the F150, but slightly smaller dimensions, weaker frame, axle, etc. More or less aimed at fleet sales IMO.
2) The new world Ranger in 2012.
The fact that Ford went against its word and put side airbags in the 2010 Rangers to meet new saftey regulations to me says that they have no F100 ready to roll. Plus Ford has been getting more and more Euro in their car offerings over the last 5 years. More and more of Fords European sedans and compacts are filtering into the US market where Ford used to have two totally different sets of cars to sell in the US and Europe/Asia. This leads me to think that the overall culture at Ford is leaning toward worldwide platform sharing across oceans with minor adjustments for local markets.
Fords rest of world Ranger sell very well against the Toyota Helix (a Tacoma with SAS and other goodies), Nissan Trucks, etc. The only thing that makes me think that Ford may not follow this plan is that VW recently decided not to bring their Amarok pu to American soil. The Amarok is very similar to the Ranger. But VWs choice could largely be due to the Chicken Tax.
Ford has been working a bit outside of the box lately, doing things like the Ecoboost V6 in the F150. Out of all the small / midsize truck makers Ford is most likely to try out a turbo diesel in the market.

I read somewhere online a few minutes ago that Ford will produce a single ranger for the world in 2012. Not saying it's true but I thought it was interesting!
Yeah, Ford has been working toward their "One Ford" goal for the last year or two.
First the Transit Connect van, then the Fiesta, now the Focus.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the global Ranger find its way over here (probably with the 2.0L ecoboost engine).

I agree, you won't know until you actually see it on the fordvehicles.com website.
