You will also need a radiator, trans, cooler, cooler lines, shift cable, automatic instument cluster or shift indicator and probably carpet...

Reverse my project log..

If I were going your direction with it... I'd say screw the whole column shifter and put in a B&M style floor shifter. Easier and probably cheaper in the long run once you truck down all the column parts and what not. I have the pedal assembly and other misc things left from my swap if you need them. Just PM me.

You're not converting a 3.0 then. Since you're swapping a 5.0 in you'll need a floor shifter and....everything needed to do a 5.0 swap.

Either way, it will have nothing to do with a 3.0.

So if you're swapping in a 5.0... You'll need a transmission that bolts up to that motor... the 3.0 auto or manual won't work. Do some more research man.

FYI!!!!!! PLease read guy! Your ranger has a hydrolic clutch. t-5 transmissions and bellhousing (what bolt up to the 5.0) use a clutch cable and fork. there are companies out there that make a kit that have a hydrolic "acutator" and shaft that converts it. I can see if i can find it and give u the link. OR you would have to take a clutch cable and probably pedal to get it to work correctly out of a id 88-93 mustang

do some research ; who said this. trust me young man i have restore and ripped apart brand new mercedes/bmws and have toren down many engines in my times. ford ranger is just not one of them. I have 2-ford rangers as I have been talking with John (aka WVCAT) he can tell you that i have 2 particular rangers . one that i want to convert to a 4.0 and the other i want to convert to a 5.0.

you guys are looking at my other threads and thinking i am mixing things up or confusing myself; but wrong again. Actually I have 2 other ford rangers 4-total but I am only working with 2 right now as the other 2 will be shipped to John. So again i will just do this myself and no need to post anymore question about this particular mod. Thanks anyways.

I'm a little confused on the post i just read. Are you going to swap in a 5.0 in this ranger or another one? I have an 04 ranger so it may work with your 01 setup if thats what you have.

yea the 01 is getting the transplant 5.0 and the 03 is getting the transplant 4.0

I live in Cali and know the laws for having it being smog legal. I am a retired police officer of 24 years; so knowing certain laws and emmisiion control is natural; just trying to do some good for my returning son.

ok im not one to normally point this out when people are being rude but if ur that good and you have done that many great swaps etc then dont dont ask for help. theres alot of in experienced people on this forum that post up a vague post like u did and dont do research first. ask a vague question and you shall receive these answers.
