3" or 5.5" spindle lift?

Does anyone have pics of a 5.5" spindle lift? Been considering the 3" for awhile until i read "Fabtech also offers a taller 5.5" lift that will clear a 32x11.5R15 tire." Now i got 285/75/16s which is basically the same height as the 32X11.5R15 tires. my intentions are to clear the 285's i got right now i just don't want to have to deal with rubbing issues because that's the entire point of getting this lift. I know the 3" and 5.5" have a considerable price difference but id be willing to save my money for a extra couple months and get the right lift.

You can run 32s with no rub on 3 inch spindles.

You sure cause i would hate to buy this and have it still rub. I know most people will do a 3" body lift and fit 33's but i do want my truck to be drivable as it was before the tires, i know it wont ever be good as stock, when it comes to turning radius and such but i would like it to be as good as it can.

Lets say i had a lift that cleared my 285's would offset/ backspacing still be an issue with rubbing, because right now i have 1.5" wheel spacers just for the stance and im pretty sure thats when i started rubbing..

turning radius will actually improve.

and yes, for sure 3 inch lift of any kind will clean 32s. heck, even 33s.

GREAT! have fun!

i can't wait to do mine....

You better not pull any kind of trigger!!!

The lift kit you're looking at is for a COIL-sprung truck. You have torsion bars. It will not work.

Fabtech does make a 3" spindle lift specifically for the Edge models.

With a 3" spindle lift on an Edge you can run 33's safely.

Masteratarms93 09-15-2010 03:32 PM

spindles only. thought thats what he was looking at.

The spindles from a coil sprung truck and a torsion bar truck are made differently. The 5.5" lift spindles are made for coil sprung trucks. I've never seen anything more than 3" for a 2wd torsion bar truck.

Yeah i made this thread to ask about what people basically thought of the 5.5" spindle lift, when i read it in more detail i found out it was for coil sprung trucks only.

I got 285's and 33's are bigger so i know im good with the 3" spindle

Yeah i think 5.5" would be too much for my truck anyways, im going to go ahead and get the 3" fabtech spindles. I was going to go with the kit that fabtech offers for around $800 but i really don't want the shocks they come with.. You guys think i should get the kit or go with bilstiens.. ? Thing is i don't want these shocks to blow out or be sh!ty and have to replace them in the near future.

I'm partial to Bilstiens only because I have them on my truck. I love the ride with them. Granted I just have a stock 4x4 suspension so it may be different when you have spindles.

I say do just spindles and either shackles or AAL. Then find shocks the right length for your application.

okay ill go with the spindles, shackles (because i don't tow or haul anything) and my question is what size shocks should i be looking at? Complete noobs when it comes to shocks so any info on that would be great :)
