300 6 swap into a 91 ranger.

Well i got a 91 ranger reg cab that came with the 2.3 and BW tcase with 4:10 gears. It took a bit of tinkering with the neutral saftey switch and ignition switch in order to get it running. The thing had sat for a few years withering away in a buddys yard. i picked it up for 200 bucks and a tire change. Just so i could go run around in the bush and do some wheelin. so after running it for a while i decided to do upgrades. it came with a rancho 4inch lift and 3 inch body lift. that was indeed tired and seen beter days. with 2 broken leafs on each side, we decided to take care of this issue by replacing the rear leafs with some out of a 90s 2wd f150 spring packs. they worked beautifuly. The next thing we ended up doing was welding the tiny 7.5" rear end. i know this is frowned upon but i do have a narrowed 9" out of a 70s bronco thats getting swapped when i complete that project. then we moved to the front. i have 3 sets of coil springs i have that i can choose from. a set out of a 90s f150, a set of early 70s bronco springs and a set of 80s f250 springs. i am doing my engine trans and tcase swap first before i choose my spring set. for my engine i have a run of the mill carbed 300 with a NP434 with a 205 tcase thats ready to be droped in. wish me luck guys because im starting that this week. and i will post pics soon

Size: 281.6 KB I got these racing seats for a case of beer, so I figured we should toss them in. we had to patch a few holes in the floor anyways.

Size: 99.0 KB so here we are with the engine in place, we decided to cut the rad support out for now, we are eventually going to make a bracket so it can be removable. for convenience

yeah I know, I have another 300 with flat top pistons and a rv cam, that needs to be torn down and addressed, the guy I got the engine off of said it sounded like it had a bit of a rod knock. but if all the internals are still salvageable then im going to swap them over to this engine I have. but we will have to see when I get it to the shop

Man I miss my '85 F150 with the 300. Not real fast but it was uber torquey and stout.

After I bought it off the guy for $800 I had a radiator shop install 2.5" header back exhaust with a Flowmaster 40 muffler. But what I didn't ask for was that they used some super thick pipe for the exhaust instead of the regular aluminized exhaust pipe. I don't remember what kind of pipe it was but it was heavy and thick. Not gas line iron pipe type thick but quite a bit thicker than regular exhaust pipe. AND...oddly, the thing sounded exactly like a V8 with that pipe. That 300 sounded goooood at idle or cruising.

I can't wait to see the finished product! Post a video if you can when you get it running.
