Installing a 15 Gallon Titan Sidekick Tank

Here you go. Pretty easy stuff. The 18 gallon fuel capacity of the new Ranger is by far the worst thing about it for me. This was my solution. Please keep in mind that we did partner with Titan Fuel Tanks for this tank, but I do not make any $$ at all on the sale of these tanks. I just thought it was awesome that they are 10 minutes down the road from me in small town rural Idaho. For this reason, and the fact that Ranger has a woefully undersized fuel tank I wanted to share this.

Looks good

Its a 15 gallon storage tank, could be used for water as well, although I don't know what the rating is for that

It is a siphon tank, i.e. once your main tank is empty you use a siphon hose to refill from this storage tank, this way it doesn't need EVAP system like a 2nd fuel tank would require

Thanks Ron. Yah, it comes with the siphon hose system. You stick it down into the reserve tank and jiggle it up and down and it creates its own siphon suction rather than having to suck on them like my father used to do! It's a nice addition because I do so much hunting and I'll be pulling a trailer. 18 gallons....are you kidding me!!??? Hahahahah

So do you add a bottle of Sta-Bil to it, in case you don't use it in 6 months or so, or do you constantly siphon it to your main tank and refill it ?

Or do you leave it empty unless you know you'll need the reserve ?

I've never had an issue with only having an 18 gallon tank, Ya gotta stop and pee once in a while.

Good question. Think about it this way. If you are pulling a trailer with the Ranger and say it's 4,000 lbs and then on top of that you have your family and all your gear. I think you'd be lucky to be getting 15mpg. If you run the fuel down 16 gallons (1.5 gallons after the light comes on) getting 15 mpg, your range is only 240 miles. For myself, I don't want to have to stop at every service station. I just want to go! And for me in the backcountry, having the extra onboard fuel storage for ATV's, generators etc is so nice!

I can understand wanting the fuel for back country.

But, you say you don't want to stop every 200 or so miles to fuel up at a gas station, You would rather stop every 200 miles and siphon 15 gallons of gas on the side of the road, and hope it's not raining, or that you run out of gas at an unsafe to pull over spot.

The only need that option could fill would be to ensure a run of a given distance without the need to refuel.

You gotta get the two horse trailer back to the barn after the show on Sunday night.

That bed mounting is a deal breaker. It'd make more sense to remove the existing tank and fit a larger one.

You could probably beat the 15 gallon gain too.

But he does need to stop and refuel, stopping to siphon from his bed tank or stopping at a gas station, in my book = stopping to refuel, nothing gained
