02 FX4s are actually LVL 2s(they're just the first package before lvl 2 existed so its how it worked out.
03-04(at least 04, maybe a bit further) the FX4s have the 4.0 and tracloc, they dont have 31 spline or gayass chrome tow hooks and they dont have torsens.

I think it's important to point out though that regular FX4s do have the dark interior. I was playing around with my GOPRO HD widescreen camera and here's a pic showing an FX4 interior. Carpet and roof are grey, everything else is quite black. If i remember correctly Lvl 2s have colormatched seats?

also fx4's never had "chrome" tow hooks, there stainless and there's nothing gay about stainless steel

 

ok , to get this straight i have an 02 xlt with '4x4 offroad' this means i have 4:10's (knew that) but i have an L/S!?

 

Get under the truck and look at the diff. Look around the 10-bolt cover and find the metal tag. It has numbers and stuff on it. If it has an L between 4:10. Looks like this

"4L10 7.5 &^$*%"

If there is an L you has Limited Slip.

 

so theres a 4x4 XLT offroad and a 4x4 XLT? i think i just have a 4x4 XLT not off road is there a difference? where would i look to see if i have a XLT offroad. idk if it makes a different but when i bought the truck used it came with the 5 spokes i have now.. thnaks.

 

your truck is just an xlt, there was no non fx4 "offroad" model as 2003, i could be wrong though

Technically...that's what they did....


They've still got the 4x4's, but the Fx4 is it's own unique optional model with other neat goodies tossed in.

 

02' FX4 (same as 03 FX4 Level 2) All black, Shifter bezels. You can also see part of the seat pattern right next to my leg. Chrome shifters, different *****.

 

Fx4's have bigger, better, smoother ***** than the regular, wussy, small, bumpy *****.

No the 4x4 Off Road was only 98-02. Your 04 had 3 4x4 package options: XLT 4x4, FX4 Off Road, FX4 Off Road Level II.

 

so the moral of this story is 02 FX4's rock and thats about it..lol

 

And '03 Fx4 Level 2, if you want the twin sticks.

Honestly though I prefered the auto. twice the tiwing capacity and tuner really wakes it up.

Yes, with the exception of a few very rare tan interior black trucks. I have only seen one in photos and that was an '02 it even had the ugly marbling inserts.

I like my seats...I wish they had more of them.

 

The FX4 LII tow hooks maybe gayass but they are not chrome. They are stainless steel.

 

I need to find a wrecked one. I want all black interior.
