I didn't use one for the first year or 2 when i put my lift on, and I just put on a shift extender this summer and its definately a little bit higher than it was compared to the original location, my shift boot actually pulled out in a little corner cuz its up a little higher

I didn't mind not having the extension in there after driving around with it installed, so if you don't aquire one right away or at all I wouldn't worry

the shifter doesn't hit the floor plate? i heard it does if you don't use the extention.......i am going to be using the Level II shifter, so if the boot isn't where it is susposed to be, then the shifter wont look right...

My level II shifter doesn't have to have the extension, but you're right it throws the boot all off without it.

Here are two pictures I can find right now. As you can tell the top of the boot is folded in on itself. It doesn't fit perfect, but its the best I could do with a boot that wasn't intended for this lever. Its gonna have to stay like that unless I decide to go with custom boots. I doesn't really bother me and I have yet to have anyone ask me whats up with it lol. I don't have any pics of it without the shift extension, but the boot curls up over the bend in the lever without it in there.

If you want a picture of something more specific than these let me know and I can probably get something.

EDIT heres another pic

Hey can you get me a pic under your truck of the transfer case shift lever, from where it bolts to the tranny, to the t-case connection?

I'm thinking of getting that shifter

Doesn't hit the floor but it DOES hit the plastic part that holds the boot on, but you can remove that and find a nicer shift boot anyway

I'm posted a couple of times a photo I got from Bob (rwenzing). Do a search for my sn and the keyword extension housing or OSS sensor. It should give you hits to the pic I posted.

I've got some pics in this thread, see if it covers what you're looking for.

That will be another one of those elusive parts. I turned to my dealer about the part, but they insisted that it never existed and that the only RCM cover was the twin cup holder console. I PM'd Bob about the part for help locating it and he gave his to me. I'd probably still be looking for some of the LVL II parts iif it wasn't for him.
