Why an eco boost? Go big or go home! Go on and strap the 6.2 in there or better yet the new 5.0. To give away your secret, it sounds like you described it already. Let's see pics of this thing. Sounds like a cool truck.

I'm only calling bs because I wanna see it and quite frankly, if you show it, I most likely wouldn't give you my opinion anyways. I keep it to myself most of the time.

The parts I have described, I don't care about, if only I had a dime for every time I heard this "what the $&!* have you got in that thing, and I show them. but the way I built the rearend, the way I re-enforced the chasis and things like that I do care about. I put a lot of my own blood sweat and tears into building this beast, and if I'm lucy, I'll get a contract for a lot of money for every one of them I can build. untill then I ain't sain S^&T!
And as far as the Eco-Boost, I put a V8 in it and I bet I could blow the doors off the 6.2 and the 5.0, besides gas engines are easier to work on, I think. Less headach!

Man. No one on here is looking to steal what you've worked so hard to build. A forum is for showing and helping people. It's to learn from, not to tell all about what you've got and never show it off. Your truck sounds pretty impressive and I'm sure there is a line of people waiting to see this thing on here.

man I wish I could haul as much as a Big Rig, But I ain't dumb enough to try that, need a much bigger truck, I think I could probably build one to at least come close, but I don't know any pickup that can carry 80,000 lbs or better. leave that kind of weight to the big boys!

Yeah maybe your right, but I learned a long time ago, the hard way....."Trust No One"!
And I'll help anyone with a problem, I mean after all that's why I'm switching from a driver to a mechanic. If you have a problem that has you stumped, and I know how to fix it, I'll tell you. My advice is free, but my labor is not cheep, ad damn sure not free!

What cummins engine is 4.3L? How the hell do you have a 800lb cummins sitting on top of a D35 SLA which you are well over the GAWR of and how do you figure your GCWR is 13K now?

there's a 4.3 cummins marine engine?

so let me get this straight. you want to come bump a TWO YEAR OLD thread to tell us about your truck, including the engine and rear axle, but a picture of your truck will give away some "secret"?

You might be surprised how few people care about towing huge loads with their ranger. and you think they'll get more from a picture than you've told us. then even fewer would actually would actually say, hey, that's a good idea, I'm going to do it too. and EVEN IF that happens..... so what? who cares? you got a patent on it? the family business goin under?

what exactly is it you don't TRUST us to do?

I have rockwells, C15 Acert and 18 spd in my 94' 2wd. It'll haul as much as a cargo ship @ 95mph and averages 23-28mpg. Stock Ranger brakes though, because I like to practice my *** clenching.

No pics though, wouldn't want to show anyone so they could steal my business that I steal from cargo ships.

2480lbs GAWR on the front, and 2596lbs on the rear, (Origional Specs.) had to do some cutting and Welding to fit the engine as well as some body work, not much differance then the weight of the engine that came out of it. and FYI Olds made a 4.3 diesel back in the 80's it's not that big of an engine!
and as for the GCWR... Rolled it across the scales fully loaded truck, trailer 13,002 lbs.the trailer holds what....85% or more of the weight on it's axles that's what about 8,000 lbs on the trailer the truch weighs 4,000 by itself. plus the weight of the trailer. Do the math!
Besides, all this started because everyone kept telling that guy it was a bad idea to put a 5th wheel in a ranger. and in most cases that's true, I wouldn't want to take my 97 out hauling a 5th unless it's a small trailer... very small! I just wanted to prove that it can be done safely with the right upgrades.

you can't really just guess like that, because you can hook it up to your truck and pull it. what about your brakes? trailer brakes? that small truck? 8000 lbs will push that little truck all over the road if you don't have the brakes to stop it, and even then, i'm not sure what the wheelbase on the ranger is or what kind of loads you're actually pulling.

The R in those acronyms stands for RATING and putting it all on a scale is NOT a rating.

not mention the fact this is all on a 25 year old truck!

I still want to see pictures though, I'm not asking for pictures of the inside of your diff and your axle mounts and all your secrets, just post a picture of the truck and the engine bay, dammit!
