Icon6 8.8 swap sensor

Hello, I just did a swap on my 1996 ranger splash. I had stock a 8.8 with 3.73 gears, I put in a 2007 8.8 with 4.10 gears with lsd hence why I bothed to do the swap in the first place.

My question is I used the stock sensor on my 1996 diff that detects the tone ring in the newer 2007 diff, but Im wondering if I could use the stock sensor that came with my 2007 diff.

They both have the same plug in connector with the two prongs. Im curious because the 1996 sensor fits it but seems a bit loose in there.

Any information would be appreciated!

According to rockauto, they used the same sensor from 1990 to 2009

Well not exactly they are both very different in appearance, the 1996 model has a circle at the end. And the 2007 version has a pattern that looks almost like a 12 point socket and is slightly bigger.

I will take a pic in the morning, but good to know maybe they function the exact same way.
