9 inch rear question
what do i need to do in order to swap my 7.5 to a full 9 inch...i found and 8.8 and a 9 inch both for a 100 bucks
thanks guys |
9 inch is most likely full width and its gonna look silly having a stock front end (or not sas'd at least) with a fw out back. go 8.8 and if its from another ranger it should swapp right in.. ithink.
|
9 inch is too big for a 2wd.
Get a Limited Slip 8.8 from another Ranger. Swap it right in. Or get it from an Expo and get 31-spline instead of Ranger 28-spline but you have to re-weld the spring perches and what not. |
well there arent any 8.8 ls' around here...and i really cant afford a massive road trip for one either

car-part.com 2000 Ford Ranger Rear Axle Assy (RWD) Sort by distance Zip Code You want: 8.8, 4.10, Locking Like I said before though. You will have to do some grinding and welding for explorer axles. |

If nothing, try explorers or play with the year. it will give you a list of axles to choose from.

Should I get 10" drums or 9"...or just screw it and go to cobra discs
|
8.8s only come with 10 inch brakes. I really hope you check up with us when you pick one out before you buy it.
Don't want you to make any bad purchases due to hasty decisions and miss information. When I bought mine I did research for about a month before I bought. Find out as much as you can. I refereed to this page a lot: Ford Ranger Axles - The Ranger Station Lots of info plus all the door codes for all Expo and Ranger axles. If the codes match up with what you want you are good to go. I found mine at a JY through that car-part.com site. |
the foed 8.8 is one of the more common used axles to be used... i can find tons all day long. all day. the expo axle is the best to get (aside from spending an ass load for a fx4 L2) it has 32 splines, disk breaks, bigger axletubes, and generally found with an limited slip.. being in houston theres gotta be some around....if not in town pretty close.
a 9inch is going to be way too wide unless you get it narrowed, or out of a car. |

$100 at local pull a part. TONS OF THEM!! Like between 5 or 10. A lot of 4x4 Expos so they would be L/S. Sorry for your bad location.
fourliter dan: I think you mean 31 splines lol. |
