93 ranger with 2.3 needing replacement engine
 

I just purchased a 93 ranger xlt with a 4 cyl. The body and undercarriage looks pretty sound both inside and out but it has 289K on it. the transmission (5 speed) and I assume clutch has been replaced at some point. It's mostly been a one owner and a brief second owner had it for 1 yr. It also uses enough oil to warrant engine replacement. I believe either Nissan or Mazda built this vehicle and if this is so can I get a Japanese recycled engine for this?

I've never seen a 4 cyl with 8 plugs...I have extensive mechanical background but I really need a manual to get started. Since it's a 93 I have to believe that a pdf version is available somewhere. Google hasn't been my friend in this case. Can any of you help me?
