opening rear side windows

I seen this a couple days ago while driving around town, an older ranger, with the older front end,,, like, pre 2002 stype truck, and what caught my eye, was the fact that the rear side windows on the ext cab were open.... they were like tilted into the truck, so the front part of the window was even with the cab, and back half was out.... i was wondering, how hard would it be to do the same in my truck?

I'd love to have them too. It wouldn't work the way the 4 dr ext cabs are. See if you can't find the windows at a junkyard somewhere and see how they attach. I remember someone wanted to do that a long long time ago but I don't know what ever came of it.

86-97 and maybe a little newer had them as a factory option. My 1988 Ranger had them, but my aunt had an Identical truck except hers didn't have opening windows. It would probably involve a little bit of work, but it is doable. You would also need the interior panels for around the windows, as they are a little different.

theyre nothing special, i test drove a few trucks with them and you get very little air in... its more of just a vent for your front windows to allow for better airflwo but thats why i have a read window...

I like mine....they work super well if its hot and you dont want to turn the A/C on all you do is tilt those windows out and open the beer window and just crack your front windows on the freeway and you dont have to go deaf from the wind noise and you stay cool as all of the heat gets sucked out from your cab.

Im pretty sure that ford had to stop putting in the tilt windows because of the rear different style of rear seats from 01 and up and because it wasnt practicle with the 4 door options.

Yeah definitely was an option I wish I had. I dont think you could put some on a truck that didnt come with them because the plastic surrounded was all molded for the latch and stuff.

I have them on mine and to be honest ive had the truck probably 4 years now and the only time they were opened is when they were tinted. I just really never thought to open them, and didnt think they did anything? My ranger is a 2 door too, which i like somedays and i h ate others.
