Hello ranger fourms!
I am new to the fourms and currently looking into buying a 2nd generation ranger.. I currently own a 1996 f150 4x2 5.0 and multiple chevy s10's, The s10's have been nothing but trouble the past 5 years i have owned them, I am looking at one that has 145,000 miles its a 2wd 3.0 5 speed that has 145,000 miles on it. I want it to drive long distances to run errands and haul a little fire wood around town were i live. The truck has no rust frame is solid and runs and drives. The question is what should i look out for? What usually goes and needs replaced at 145,000 miles? is the 3.0 reliable? If i buy it i plan on changing oil all the filters plugs wires etc. It is cold and don't want to do anything major besides minor fixes, I heard the 5 speed trans usually goes at about 175000 miles. Is this true? Also slave cylinder is a bad design why on earth should you have to drop the tranny for a part that should be quick and easy to replace? 2nd gen owners your input would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
