add mods to my plain old Ranger??
Hey people!
I am thinking about to add mods to my truck... I consider new headlights, better third brake light with flashing twice, lowering it, maybe add fog lights (if possible), and i think the word "Ranger" on signal turning lights are tight. Can any of you suggest me more ideas or explain how I can lower my truck or add some fog lights? I just want make my truck unique :) So please gimme some ideas!! my truck picture is on my avator or you can find it in "Introduce yourself" section under this thread "One of Virginia Ranger owner" |
fog lights should be easy... i believe most rangers come with the stock wiring even if they don't come with them... just a matter of finding where the loose ends are... i'm sure someone else knows where to find them... and i have no idea how to lower it sorry

all rangers prior to 04 as far as i know are prewired for fog lights. they also have the switch wiring behind the dash, and the fuse and relay set up and in place, just a matter of installing the bulbs, adding the switch and putting in a fuse. my 04 is prewired behind the dash for fogs, however theres no wiring for fogs in the front of the truck. doesnt matter to me tho, i didnt really wanna use Fords mickey mouse wiring harness anyways.
have a look around here, theres lots of easy CHEAP mods u can do |
fog lamps are cool i dont know about lowering it but if you do how about the obligatory neons under it maybe some large rims and low rise tires and convert the bed to a stereo system.
personally if it was mine id prolly raise it a bit throw a tool box on it rail caps anda CB maybe a stone guard |

I lowered my ranger 3 inches in the front and 3 in the back as well. I used a DJM flip kit in the rear and lowering springs in the front. The flip kit was easy enough to do myself but I needed some help with the springs. If you want an explanation of how to do it or anything else just let me know and i'm sure there are many other guys on here that will help ya with it.

A flip kit will run you around $100 depending on what brand and where you get it. Heres the one i got http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a.../categoryid/30 On a stock ranger the leaf springs in the rear sit on top of the axle and the flip kit allows you to move the leaf springs under the axle which gives you the drop. All this takes to do are some jack stands, a jack, and some sockets. All you really have to do is put the jack stands under the rear axle, remove the u-bolts that hold the leaf springs to the axle, then remove the shackles and leaf spring, apply the new shackles, and bolt the leaf spring back up under the axle using the flip brackets..and thats really all there is too it..(note; I did one side at a time) You will also need to get some new shocks for lowered trucks such as Belltechs Nitro drop shocks, which you can find on that site i sent you. For the front you just need the lowering coil springs and that just involves swaping out your old ones with the new ones and you will also need new shocks for the front as well. Well I hope this helps you!! |
