pulling a 17 Ft. Sunbird with my Ranger XLT??

Hi, i desperately want to buy a boat and might have found one. It is a 17 ft. 1997 Sunbird with a 115 Johnson fish and ski. I googled and cannot find the weight of this package anywhere. Do you guys think my ranger can pull it? I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 2wd with a 3.0.

My grandpa used to pull a 17' fish and ski with chevy 350 in it with his 4.0 OHV.

I pull a Basstracker 18 footer with a 50 on the back, but I have the 4.0 SOHC

Im sure you will be fine, just be prepared for your gas to go fas! The truck WILL pull it, its a mattter of will it do it efficiently

First off, the P means PARK, not neutral. And even then I could pull an explorer around if I wanted to. On 35s with stock 4.10 gearing.

I could not pull it, the truck was bogging down and spinning the rear tires. i put it in 4wd and in 2nd then the strap snapped. so i used a chain and still had no power

Just filling it in for the next 10 people who agree with your post. In high school wrestling we had to push vehicles in neutral a few miles as a workout. Not that hard.

good grief... get your truck looked at ASAP.
a smart car could tow (or at least move) an explorer thats in neutral.

I dont see pulling as a problem the problem is in stopping, the ranger is so light it can easily be pushed by a heavy trailor. Nothing like the feeling in your gut when your rear end starts steering your truck for you.
