When I worked at O'riellys we cut open all the filters and the O'rielly brand one was the same as the Wix and Mobil 1 filters and the Fram well the Fram was crap! I use the O'rielly brand ones I was using the Mobil 1 filters and I might try one of those Amsoil filter next.

I don't run Synthetic, but why is fram sooo bad? I have been using it in my ranger since I started driving. In my 1992, and now 1996

Fram isn't going to cause your vehicle to detonate or anything. It's just that it's quality and performance should cause anyone to pause.....and consider a better built filter (for the same cost). Why risk the chance of excessive engine wear? Many, many, folks all through the various automobile websites out there have much to say about Fram's poor quality. Even objective tests posted on the web have shown this to be true. My personal experience (see my previous post) with Fram also supports that they can cause issues.
Do what you want though, just be sure to take in all available resources before you make a decision.

WOW!! I didn't know about the Fram. I have been running them for a while in both the Ranger and RX7. I didn't get it for the truck this past oil change because Walmart was out of stock so i got the Motorcraft. I'm glad I read this post before i changer the oil in the 7.

On the other hand, I have used FRAM in all of my vehicles - 69 Ford Truck / Mazda / Acura / - and my ranger, except for the last oil change - I switched to Mobile 1 synthetic blend and mobile 1 filter.....and had no problems at all. It has never failed on me, and have never heard any funky noises in my engine. it think it depends on luck and your driving style (high rmps and such).

I can definitly tell a difference between mobile 1 and fram and Pennzoil. I think its already worth it, so i won't go back
