Motor? Also, it says what weight to run in your owners manual. I wouldn't run anything but what it says...

i run 10-40 dino oil also. course my engine has 165k on it. i run it because the engine is high mileage, want it to last a while, and socal heat it warm all the time. plus she burns a quart an oil change 3k miles so she slowley getting old and thirsty.

Your situation is a little different, Your motors age and mileage are big factors. Newer engines have tighter tolerances, especially Ford modular motors. The recommended weight oil for my truck (I think him and I have the same motor) is 5-30. I just think 10-40 is way too thick...

In the summer, I think nether weights will have any affect on the motor at all. It's when it gets below 32 that the thinner oils really make a difference. I ran 0w-30 in the winter and 5w-30 in the summer before I started using Amsoil. Now I just run 5w-30 all year.

had an 84 chevy s10 blazer. 2.8l auto v6, lol it got to the point of a quart a week. bought a 93 aerostar and parked the blazer for a while.....sold it to friend and the engine burned up on him 2 weeks later. ran like a champ till the end. it only had 305,000 on it. it got new engine and is still kickin.

Why would you run a higher viscosity (cold) in the winter?
