Another ranger obituary(not a rf member this time)

So me and my buddy were busy last night giving everyone rides home from the bar/parties like we do every year to keep people safe.

My buddy was on his way to pick someone up in portland when (go figure) a stupid drunk cut him off on an icy road. He hit a big patch of ice and went into an embankment and rolled his ranger.

Thank god for looking over him because he was not injured. Keep in mind he's 6'7"

I'm sooooo thankful because it could have been alot worse. I've lost too many friends these last few years and to see one of my very best friends who's on a full football scholarship and who just got engaged lose his life would have been life changing to say the least

here's the damage

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2487735_n.jpg

Unfortunately it's totalled. and his canopy may have actually helped to some extent.
Don't fill this thread with stupid " any way i can get xxxx part..." crap. He's planning on getting another ranger

Just a reminder to drive safe people! And remember life is short. This wasn't driver error or stupidity just bad luck :(

Almost flat as a pancake. Yes, he was lucky.

Lazler 01-01-2011 11:27 PM

Glad to hear he is okay! That looks horrible..

darangerdanger 01-01-2011 11:35 PM

Yeah I'm pretty shook up. Just as easily could have been me

like i said look at the damage and think of a 6'7" guy crammed in there. lucky isn't even the right word

It's sad it was his first car he bought. Not in perfect shape but it was setup perfect for camping. we always would CRAM that thing full of supplies lol

ranger4.0 01-02-2011 07:55 PM

Tys 4x4 FTW 01-02-2011 07:58 PM

....is his ranger purple? lol

StxDangerRanger 01-02-2011 07:59 PM

i hate to see rangers scrapped like that. Another purple one bites the dust. glad to hear he is ok though

Looks liked the driver side door opened so firefighters didnt have to cut him out.

Glad to hear he's alright, but kinda dumb to be driving on one of the most hazardous nights (no matter how good the intentions). That's why I stay home every New Years Eve. It's not worth it IMO.

I applaud both of you for taking the initiative and driving people home though. A very stand up thing to do. :-)

Trucks actually gray dumb camera phone haha.

Yeah I know its not the best night to be driving around but I kept 7 people from potentially doing the same thing as the idiot who cut my buddy off and caused the wreck.

They didn't need jaws of life. Thank god someone saw the whole thing happen and helped him immediately. They managed to get a crowbar in there and pop the door before the cops even got there.

A HUGE plus is that the guy who saw it happen saw the car and enough of the license plate to track them down. Obviously they won't be able to pin him with a dui but at least we got a fleeing the scene out of it. Hopefully it knocks some sense into the guy

glad to see he's ok. sucks about the drunk but at least you can get him for leaving the scene.

Glad he's ok man. I just lost a buddy recently in a car wreck. They didnt find him until 2 days later after the crash. He was 200+ feet into the woods. Can't feel too bad though because he was drinking and driving. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE, no matter what.

You don't even have to be a AAA member. I know some taxi companies also give free rides that night.
