I ran a 10.6 with a poor launch in my IX. (1/4M)

This is a fully driven street car, with full interior and street tires.

I am not really interested in the 1/4M anymore I want to do standing mile.

Why would you want to run the 1/4 in a ranger?

btm757 Dec 3, 2010 01:05 PM

I kinda want to run the 1/4 in my ranger just to see what it can do

Mr Hammond Dec 3, 2010 01:29 PM

Kevin,
First, why not? I didn't say 1/4 mile, I just said drag. I drag my 01. It is realy set up more for street but I have been running at the local strip on test & tune day. It is not as fast as I would like but I'm working on going faster. With the gear & engine combo I have it has went a 13:12 in the quarter. I have installed a trans brake & working on installing a 400 shot of nos. I'm getting the parts togeather to build a 351W boared & stroked to 396".

My Miata runs 11.30's on street tires and is setup for road racing. My Ranger drives to the track to watch.

Sig is old 274 with a gt2554, now has a gt2871 running 20 lbs of boost hp is 340 give or take a few torque is 281 car is 2200 lbs. last run 11.31 @112 mph. I can ad more boost but trans is at its limit. This motor and turbo setup can make 400 hp easily just the trans is only rated to 300. Launching is a bi**ch and shifting to second or third if on the throttle will scatter the trans all over the track. so I keep the boost down to save the trans. I have seen Miata's run 10's with a beefed trans and 30 psi.
Here is the motor with the old 2554 on it

Exactly :) it's fun.

I've done lots of drag racing with my bikes 98 zx9r would run low/mid 10's all day long and my 04 zx6rr is low 11's and high 10's. My best is a 10.91... I've won lots of drag races on reaction times and launch I've been very consistent in 500's for reaction time on a standard tree and I've got a .500 slip on the wall :). It helps me a ton when I road race as well. I can gain positions before corner 1. It's a big adavtange turning in to corner 1 first from a 7th place qualifying position :)

I just spent a bunch of time in north Quebec. Every red light was a drag race especially when it was snow covered roads or in unplowed parking lots they'd line up and run. Good tires (I'm running blizzak DMV-1's) and light weight was a good combo. So funny watching ram drivers getting frustrated there super powerful hemi is slow haha

I used to run my cammed LT1 S10 at the track. Sold it because of 9mpg and came out $1,500 ahead.

Building one right now just for that purpose. I see now, after joining, that most of this site is four wheelie rags, so I prob wont be on here much. Dirt is for putting on the garden, concrete and asphalt is for racing.
