Anybody Amateur Radio Operators
Just curious Who on here are Ham Radio Operators. And if so who all has gear in their Ranger. I dont have pictures of mine but I have 100 watt UHF and VHF Motorola MCS2000 in my truck. If I think about it I will post pictures. If you have gear in your truck post pictures of your setup. It may spark new Ideas for me.

Here is my radio setup in my ranger.
I have a solenoid in the back where my jump seats used to be and a homemade bracket on the other side that my radios are mounted. I have a switch on the mounting brackets that turns on the solenoid which turns on the radios. The control heads are up front in the console.

I have a question for some of you HAM guys. Is it possible to talk on FRS and CB channels through a HAM? I have my HAM license and a hand held unit. I just picked up a mobile rig for my truck and was wanting to program a few frs and cb channels in to it so if im driving with friends that arent licensed I can have one radio in the truck and still talk to them on frs or if I hit a traffic jam I could jump on the cb and ask whats going on really quick. I have read about something called an "extended transmit mod" but that sounds like something people are doing to get on police channels or does that also allow frs and cb transmitting along with the emergancy bands?

I don't think that any ham radios also operate on those frequencies. it is possible, and of course if you modified the radio to allow you to transmit on those frequencies, then yeah it would work. But I think most if not all legal ham radios will only allow you to transmit on the ham bands.
I think your best bet would be to have both a CB and a ham radio if you need both, but of course then you'll have to rock a dual antenna setup or have both radios using the same antenna, both of which would cause some issues (though still you best option)
many ham radios can also receive other frequencies, you just won't be able to transmit without illegal modifications.
