Might need a new Ranger...

For my mom. My brother has to rebuild his truck or something, I don't really know the details. While he does that, my mom needs a vehicle to drive. She gave me a budget around $2500-$3500. We bought my truck for $2000 two years ago.

She said a Ranger would be great, and if we get one for a good deal, when we don't need it anymore, we can part it out for anything that my truck might need. So my question...

Providing we even get a Ranger, what things/parts/etc. would be considered "upgrades" for my truck, that are stock for another Ranger? Thanks

And I was hoping I wouldn't have to state a year, because we aren't set on a specific year. I've found a 93 and an 02 within our budget.

I should've said "what parts from what years would be considered an upgrade for a 96"

We just found a 99 stepside with a 5 speed for $2900. 129k miles. The listing says v6, but didn't specify 3.0L or 4.0L. Plus, has bigger tires.

Really the only way you would get "upgrades" is if you got an fx4.

And if we got one of those (probably not in our price range haha) I would keep it, and let my mom have my Ranger.

Could have an upgraded rear axle, like a 31 spline instead of the 28 you have. Upgraded gears from 3.73's to 4.10's. Interior could be a possible upgrade depending on what you have now. Buckets vs 60/40's, full length center console, exc.
