Anybody hear of a carbonization service?

Has anybody heard of a service for cleaning out carbon deposits in the engine? I was told that some places do this service but haven't found one yet. I have no idea what it would be called or if something like this is even available. What I was told is that they hook something up to your intake and run fluids through that knock off all the carbon buildup. I think the guy told me that Strauss Auto does it, but their website says nothing about it.

It's called decarbonization.

I don't know where it's done.

Ah, that would make much more sense, wouldn't it. Ok, well at least I have a term to search for, thanks Levino.

I checked seafoam out, I'm looking for alittle bit more, so that I can clean out the upper part of the engine as well, intake and all that good stuff.

I found out that they call it a fuel/air induction service. It tends to run about $100+ and covers pretty much everything that can get a carbon buildup. Alot of places offer it, so far Pep Boys is the cheapest at $100.

Go to the dealer and ask them about it. Typically you run it through one of the vacuum ports, let it sit for an hour or two and then drive the **** out of it.

There's 2 ways that DIY'ers can do it. Use either water or Seafoam. The only difference between the 2 besides the obvious is with water, you don't let the engine sit for a 1/2 hour or so or will hydrolock the engine.

Then there's Seafoam, let the engine slowly suck down 1/2 a can or the whole thing, let it sit for 1/2 hour, go eat dinner or something, then start the engine. Your neighbors might think you blew up your engine and call the fire department or something stupid because it will smoke like a freighttrain! I've never tried Seafoam but I do have intentions to. Maybe right before I change my oil this week or the next hopefully, I'll have the engine drink some Seafoam. -Mike-

I use seafoam in my ranger about every 3 months and about every month in the blazer (It has a studdering problem). Works great and it's only $5. Plus if you read the directions it can clean different parts of your engine.

Um, sorry to hi jack, but if you need to use seafoam in your Blazer that often, something else is wrong and needs to be fixed. Sounds like seafoam is just bandaiding the problem for the meantime. -Mike-

I know it is, but we couldn't afford to fix it just yet. Now that I'm deployed my wife is going to take it in and have everything looked at on it.
