Totaled!

So I was rear-ended recently, and insurance told me recently that my truck is totaled. I've been looking around at trucks for the last week or so and I've found 2 that I like so far: a silver 2002 Tacoma 4x4 reg. cab 5 speed with 82,000 miles for $7900, or a sonic blue 2004 Ranger FX4 5 speed flareside with 63,000 miles for $11,900. What are your thoughts?

I personally would not buy another Ranger. Tacomas are nice and even with 82K miles the engine still has a lot of life left in it. But I would use the money as a down for a newer Tacoma.

I wish someone would rearend me so I can get a new truck.

I was kinda thinking the same thing myself, minus the down payment on a newer tacoma. I just don't really want one.

That wish could come true. He's only asking 10k for it. Throw in a new tranny and you got yourself a nice vehicle.

Go for it then. They are awesome trucks. The 3.4 is underpowered but it will get the job done.

I think there's also a 2.4, but I'm not positive. Not sure which one this was.

Looks like the 4wd 4 banger trucks have the 2.7. 150 hp and 177 ft lbs of torque.

Hmmm, I'm starting to lean more towards this truck. The ranger is too much anyways.

Its really up to you. I don't like my Ranger. I haven't had much good luck with it and the only reason I bought it was because it was cheap. I'm also not Mr. American cars or Mr. Ford only.

I love Fords, but when I was looking for a truck originally, the truck I had really wanted was a Tacoma.

I love Fords. I love Rangers. So I will not be much help to you lol. I say get the Ranger. There should be more around you other then the FX4 but the Fx4's are more because you get a whole lot more for the price. They are very nice trucks.

I like my ranger but I would buy a newer model Tacoma. I only say this because the aftermarket for them is huge. There is not a lot of aftermarket stuff for rangers. They are more expensive but I think it is worth it.

It would probably run like a 3.0 Ranger, and get better gas mileage.
