Dude that sucks! There are some crazzya$$ drivers out there. I almost got nailed by a prius the other day. I know its too late, but I would have gunned it and gotten right on that guys bumper, at least if only to catch his plate number. Also, just keep an eye out for his truck when your on the road.( its a long shot) Those clear altezza tailights are not oem, and not many people will have them on a ranger.

Bingo. 01-03 2WD Edge.

The defining characteristic of the vehicle is those Euro taillights. I could drive around that town for a day and pick that truck out if I saw it.

And everyone who says it's a 4 cylinder is retarded.

Edges only came with V6s.

DO NOT GIVE A PARTIAL VIN!!!!

In fact, don't give any information you CANNOT verify. If you do, you're setting yourself up to be looking in the wrong pool of vehicles.

The fact is this: You know it's a Ranger. You know the color. You know it's a stepside. You know it's got aftermarket taillights. Other than that, you've got nothing.

What year is THIS vehicle?

If you say '01-'03... then you're wrong.

Do you know how small of a percentage of Ranger owners do front end conversions? I would say 95% of those who do it are on one of these forums.

Its not like the cops are gonna find a similar truck and just arrest them. They would just use it to narrow down the search then find the one with the aftermarket tail lights and scratches and dents on the sides.

They are checking on the vin as first measure, but if nothing is yielded in the search they will go from 01-05 red in color and 2wd if the search allows it but I dont think they have the data like 2wd or stepside in the DMV database which is where the vin comes in.

Im pretty confident the vin with color and years will give a small but worthwhile pool of vehicles to check.
Also around here with the road salts used here the vehicles rust more then average. Any older then 01 and it will likely have rust on the rockers and door bottoms. Ive even seen a white edge like the one that hit me that had holes rusted through the front fender.

Tonight the officers going to get back to me to tell me what he found. There are not very many of these rangers around here in that configuration.
