my buddies prerunner ranger

one of my friends used to drive this blue 79 chevy stepside but then he bought a 97 dodge 1500 and didnt need his chevy anymore so he traded it for one of our friend's prerunner trucks he had built and i rode in it labor day weekend and its crazy, we were doin 70 over the biggest whoops and still bein able to drink out of a mountain dew can and its still got the 4 banger in it, and my friend now has paddles on it and it turns em pretty good, well here are the pics from the day he got it

What you mean by paddles? I thought you were talking about the tires but after seeing them they are not paddles.

You normally see that on mud trucks. It's to keep from sucking up water when you're splashing around.

Why did a prerunner truck have mud tires on it?

And is that a solid axle in the front?

The intake is on the outside coming in so it wont suck up sand during racing or bad weather - I've seen it all the time on those type of rigs.. most definitely do not want sand accidently flying into the engine

they're not welded together, thats just how they look in the pic, it has mud tires on it prolly cause thats wut the guy had layin around and WowMike2001 was right that the intake is set up so no sand gets in the intake, and idk why there aint no cup holders but we just held the cans and they didnt spilll at all no matter what speed we went over the whoops, i think its pretty cool that that thing still has the stock 4 banger in it, my friend is gonna get some 302 injecters to put in it cause i guess that gives it like 80 more hp, is that true?
