Baby Superduty !!!!

One of my friends saw last week on a gas station near city of Mexico this highly modified Ranger, as you can see this is more than severe duty, this is brutal duty.
My friend had the opportunity to talk with the driver and the specs of the truck and mods are the below listed:

- Engine: 2.3L INLINE 4 !!!
- Tranny: 5 speed manual
- Axle: Dana 44-3 (4.56 gears) 2 heavy duty leafs added
- 2WD
- Frame extension to accomodate a 7 foot flat bed with the wooden cage
-Payload capacity: Over 1.5 Tons(approx)

I think this guys has taken this ranger to the limits !

What do you think?

Now this is one time I can't say "Should have bought a diesel."

I would imagine that 2.3 is tired, and the clutch. Haha

All that work though and it can only hold 1.5 tons?

I've hauled a good 4,000lb boat with a dual axle trailer, it wasn't the ideal towing setup but the 302, AOD probably hleped.

But there is a difference between what you can haul and what you can tow.

In Mexico the Rangerīs most fierce competitor is the D22 from Nissan wich can easily haul 1.5 tons in the bed with no mods! thatīs why you can see people pushing their rangers to the limits. Iīve hauled near 1 ton with mine too.

I think in the US the ranger is more oriented to a recreative vehicle than a work horse.

I've hauled 1,500lb of scrap steel in my Ranger to the scrapyard before. The thing held up fine, even though the rear was 1" off of the snubbers! They can do a lot, for being little trucks.

I've also hauled about 2,000lb of scrap in a single axle trailer to the scrapyard before, that's about 2,800-3,000lb including the steel trailer.

Metric ton or ton? Metric ton is 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) and a ton is 2,000 lbs. 3,000 lbs would be taxing on a F-150.
