Bad news..

I just put a breaker bar on my engine and its seized. Now I have to decide what to do.

A: Rebuild what I have

B: Get a recycled engine

C: Get a Jasper short block

D: Upgrade to a different motor (iei 302 or 4.0 SOHC)

I don't have much money at all and all the installation would be done by me. I really just wan't it back on the road soon and for cheap.

well id say rebuilt that will probably be the cheapest unless you can find a deal on same motor, or bigger one.

Ouch, sucks to hear that. Has it been sitting for a long time?

Id hit up some junkyards and see what you can find in decent shape if you want to go the cheapest route possible. Unless you can find a wrecked parts truck with a good engine for cheap.

I don't get it?
You drove it home from Wharton and now it is seized?
Was it making lots of noise on the way home?
Loss of power?
Did it sit for a few days and now you are trying to turn it over?
Are you using a breaker bar because the starter is not working?
Did you pull the plugs after you flooded it and clear the cylinders?
Did you pull some plugs now and try turning it over?

No I just did it yesterday. It hydrolocked and bent a rod probably.

I wonder how hard it would be to swap a SOHC 4.0 in?

No it seized right on the spot where I sunk it, took the plugs out and still "click click". My friend went and picked up his trailer and towed it to my house. Today I got back from work and thinking that MAYBE the starter took a dump I put a breaker bar on the crank bolt and it doesnt budge.

Ben's motor would be a nice upgrade
should be a simple install (well as simple as swaping an engine can be) since he pulled all the electronics out with it

are you sure you were turning the engine the right way with the breaker bar?
in neutral with at least half the plugs out
also if the starter seized on the fly wheel it could be stopping it from turning

Forget a 4.0, do a 5.0 - you will regret it if you dont.

Unless, of course $ factors in...

I looked into it and it's a pain in the a$$. The 4.0 has plenty of power for what I use it for. I have a car for going fast. Plus the money is a factor as well as time. If I had a 4 banger or a 3.0 I would probably go that way but the 4.0 is pretty stout.

Get a 302 like me. I got mine for $1000, and the rebuild parts for around $800. It's going to be a fun swap!

If all my $ wasnt going for my college edu. and i didnt have a part time job, the 5.0 would be in mine.

But it will happen, even if it is 5 years from now..

it might not be seized mine did the same ehing when i hydrolocked. we took all of the plugs out and it wouldnt turn it over. so we put it in gear and rocked it back and forth and it started to pump the water out slowly. it was a pain in the ***. and then we put the plugs back in and she fired right up started to drive her home and BAM dropped a rod.
