Bed Liner over Spray-On

Hey all, just purchased my first 2004 Ford Ranger and it's currently being re-painted. The bed has 15 year old spray-on bed liner that looks like crap. My thought was to put in a plastic bed liner over the top of the Spray-On. My concern is fitment issues due to the thickness of the Spray-On. Has anyone put a plastic bed liner over Spray-On and did you have fitment issues? What did you do to solve short of removing the Spray-On?

Thanks,

I'd be surprised if that would cause anything but a really tightly fitting bed liner.

I agree with you, however the manufacturers are saying it wont fit unless I remove the old spray-on bed liner. Trying to find if someone has actually done it and what new bed-liner they used.

I didn't have it in a ranger but on multiple other full size trucks I had spray on under a plastic liner because that keeps the plastic liner from rubbing the paint and primer off the bed and masking rust through
