Need help with 1999 Ford Ranger plenum

I have a Ranger with a 3.0L that keeps getting the P0401 code. The EGR valve, TPS and DPFE has been replaced among other things. Still gives P0401 code. Transmission acts up when light is on. Either shifts too fast into over-drive before 30 MPH or jumps in and out of over-drive going down the inter-state at around 60 MPH. As long as light is not on, trans does just fine. Already dropped $700.00 into all the work I have had done but still not fixed. PLEASE! Someone help me!

I would just trade the truck but it has sentimental value. My dad had the truck when he passed away a year ago, so I would like to get it fixed.

Thanks!!!

well, my truck is having the exact same problem. the shop told me it has something to do with the solenoid and it might continue to act up or it might quit. but, they also found metal shavings in the transmission fluid, so my ranger might be going by by.

Did you replace the hoses when you replaced the DPFE sensore? I have had this issue a few times with some trucks I have worked on and the rubber hoses can be easily damaged when taking them off of the DPFE sensor if they are the original ones and they could be clogged with carbon build up to. I would check them first.

well, the shop told me the problem code was the torque converter clutch system and it was stuck off. also, they found metal shavings in the transmission, so it looks like the ranger might be going to someone else who can afford to fix it!
