I went with the T-Max 9000
Summit sells the same winch under their label for a few bucks less. She pulls like a mofo. Drag 40 ft park model trailers sideways with it, Have used it alot since I got it and the T-Max is reliable as all get out http://ontarioranger.gotdns.com/winch/5.jpg http://ontarioranger.gotdns.com/winch/6.jpg |
also, you can take the electric winch off when your not going to be using it and thats 80-100lbs less that your lugging around putting strain and wear on the front end.. just my .02
(if you get that quick connect) |

(if you get that quick connect) If I was going to carry in the bed, I'd have a receiver bolted through the floor to the frame to hold it down |
Martiangod But, then you may not have it when you need it, and if its laying in the bed, one seriouse projectile in an accident. If I was going to carry in the bed, I'd have a receiver bolted through the floor to the frame to hold it down LOL, I was thinking of doing something like this, anybody got any pics of something like this. I have been trying to think of something that doesnt involve cutting holes in my bed floor though...not going to good...lol |
so would it fit in a regular size truck toolbox?
|
Its really heavy to have in a small aluminum tool box IMO, unless it touched the bed.
As for not having it attached, i know i wouldn't drive around like that it would be in the garage.. where i live in Texas there are very few places to go wheelin so i kinda know when I'm planning on going lol I had it on the front for a while, and it works for some dirt adventures and mud, but it gets in the way hella bad when your trying to climb rocks, that's why i wouldn't want it up there all the time. When i get a welder at home one of my first projects will be to put a mounting bracket and a winch under the bed about were the spare tire carrier currently is, that way i always have one winch and its out of the way. Then I'll just attach the rollers to what every bumper I build |

well i have one already i got for Christmas a few years ago lol, its a harbor freight and i figured i would just toss that under there and when 4wp has a nice sale again i'll put one on the front.. *most* of the time a rear winch would probably work pretty good as well.
i just like the idea of it being hidden and just seeing the fair leads coming out the custom bumper :scool:, I'll just cut a hole in my bed and hinge it so i can get to it easily |

another question about the front hitches, all i can find is the one for 05 rangers, i have an 06, i suspect it will work fine but i wanted to double check
will the 05 front hitch fit an 06 sport w/o serious cosmetic issues, thanks |
