could I pull this.....?
I took the truck off road the other day. Nothing crazy, just some trails with some big ruts and mud holes.
Long story short is I want one of my buddies to come with me but he says if he gets stuck I won't be able to pull him out so he doesn't want to go. He has an 03 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 2wd with a hemi. It kinda makes me mad cause everyone thinks my truck is a little toy...he says he would feel safer if my other buddy with a 4wd Dodge Dakota with the 5.7 V8 comes too so he could pull him out.
I dunno, anyone think I could yank that thing out of a situation? 04 FX4 Offroad w/ 4.0

You should be able to pull him out, my old S10 blazer was 4wd and I pulled a dodge ram out of a ditch in the winter time with it, I wouldn't think that wouls be any different...
Oh, FYI. Dakota's don't have a 5.7 in them, if its a newer one, its a 4.7. The older ones had a 5.2 (318) or a 5.9 (360) but the 5.9 was only available in the R/T (2wd).
Edit: Tires help, if you have crap years, you may have trouble...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my truck would. Just wanted a few opinions on it.
my bad, you are right..its a 5.9 but it is definately a 4wd. Funny thing is my friend bought the truck thinking it was a v6. The dealer even told him it was. Took it to get inspected, asked why the gas mileage sucked and they mechanic said...ummm cause you have a V8. haha Looked at the sticker under the hood and checked the VIN online and sure enough its a 5.9 V8

depends on the way you are stuck.
and F250 could not pull me out once, neither could the 3/4 ton Dodge Cummins without some good yanks...
but then i have heard about Rangers pulling out some crazy big stuff...
it all jsut depends but since he is only 2wd its not like he is going to get stuck bad... he can only go so far anyway. lol
so in that case he should feel comfortable wheeling with your ranger.

Yeah... it pretty much depends on how he's stuck. I mean if he some how manages to get buried up the cab in Mud... I don't care what you have outside of a sherman tank, your going to have a hard time pulling him out.
But for the most part if you are just going down some little trails with some mud, you should be able to pull pretty much anyone.

It Depends,
I was at a field Trial a Couple years ago and a real smart guy parked his motor home and horse trailer at the bottom of a hill. Now it rained all weekend and his rig sank more and more. Come sunday he decided to try and pull it out only to bury it up to the frame. I hooked onto it with my 04 and with it in 4low and first gear I walked him right out of there trailer and all. I was pretty impressed.

All depends.
If you are on concrete and he is in a mud pit stuck, usually you can pull him out. If you are on soft dirt, good luck!!!
I've never been in a situation kevin couldn't pull me out. He can pull me out in neutral all the time...no questions asked. Then again, I am 2wd and weigh 1/2 of that ram!!!

But if your truck is a "toy," then why's he afraid that he'll get stuck and you won't?
He thinks his truck is a real truck cause its big and has a v8...but he has 2wd so hes afraid of getting stuck.

Like said earilier-depends on how you are stuck
i have an 04 4.0 4x4
my dad got his 01 dodge ram 1500 4x4 stuck-had a trailor which was sitting on its axle in mud, and i pulled him out, took some effort-i was in the mud as well- but i pulled him out with 4L
I think he is just looking for an excuse to get out off mudding, doesnt want to get his "HEMI" dirty
