cruise control hook up

I recently brought my ranger in for the safety recall, but they were out of the part for it, so all they did was disconnect the cruise control. I recently found out that I have to drive a long distance this weekend and I want the cruise control for it. Does anyone know how to hook this back up?

all they did was disconnect it? thats bull, i would take it back and say it doesnt work now.... a recall is to replace whatever is going bad... not disconnect it..

Yea I thought it was weird. Even though they asked me if they could disconnect it and I said ok. I guess its cause it can start on fire if its connected or some stupid thing.

Look at your brake master cylinder.

That pressure switch is what they disconnected.

You can re-connect it for your drive.

I would not be real happy with the dealer. Go tell them to order it in so you can have it for your trip. Next day air. Make a scene if you have to that is not good service

my dealer unhooked mine since there are no parts available until december (or at least that's what they are saying) and then my abs light came on. I just plugged it back in and all is well. Watch now my truck will catch on fire...

I took mine in and they just disconnected it, and the abs light started coming on so I hooked it back up. They are supposed to call when the part comes in. I will disconnect it before I take it back. I think they should have the parts when they issue a recall, especially one that could cause a fire or serious damage or injury.

I agree 100%

I took mine in early November. They said that Ford doesn't have any more parts and that they "should" have some in next quarter. I use my cruise when going on long distance trips on the highway, which isn't all that much. So it really doesn't bother me that it's disconnected. At least if it catches on fire, my *** is covered, as the recall was done (or at least disconnected).

Guess Ford f*ucked up yet again. It's their own fault for the crap design anyway.

Well, here it is May of 2008, six whole months later and still "No Parts Available".

At this rate I think Ford owes is the cost of the cruise control!
