ranger or full size pickup?

i can get a great deal from my brother in law who works at a ford dealer body shop on any ford its called the D plan? even a full size f150 will be under 30 grand. should i go with the ranger or just go big? he says why go with such a small truck when you can drive a full size for around the same price? and gas isnt much differant between the 2? not sure what those f150 get gas wise but i was thinking of buying a 07 level2. care to comment? nice that i could tow my 69 mach1 with the bigger truck but i hate autos trans?. thanks.

I'd say first to test drive both trucks you are considering buying!

I love my ranger because it's the right size for me. It's easy to drive, easy to park, and has the right amount of space. It's pretty good on gas, and a very capable truck for its size. Lastly, it was the right price for me with all the options.

That being said, if I could afford a bigger truck, it would be nice to have a good solid V8 and a crew cab to carry more people. Was it worth the extra money or cutting back on options to me? I think my choice speaks for itself. Ultimately I will buy myself a nice solid crew cab short wheelbase F250 Superduty with a diesel, but until then my Ranger suits my needs just fine.

I love my Level II. The 5spd can be somewhat cantankerous though. I think I just need to change my trans fluid though. Do watch out for the slave cylinder also. They are the weak point in the transmission and like to go out. They're not expensive by themselves, but they are located inside the bellhousing so you've got to pull the whole transmission to get at the damn thing, so it's either alot of work, or alot of money to get it done.

I'd say F-150 I love my ranger and all but if your gonna do alot of towing/hauling and wanna have more room the 150 would be a better choice

Tough call. I got my Ranger because of it's look and size. I always wanted a pickup truck, but the full-sized trucks look just too damn big for my liking. The Ranger is plenty large enough for the wife and I, it parks well anywhere and it fits thru the Wharton trails pretty good. I'd be ripping the mirrors off at Wharton on some of those trails I travel if I had an F150.

I had a 05 fx4 ranger but it was not big enough so I bought a 07 sport trac and love it and gets about the same gas mileage but I do like the rangers very much.
