brakes and hood wrap advice

Hi guys

finishing details on the truck (long ways to go) but I'm leaving the States beginning of February and as you can imagine time is not on my side, so everything is being done "when I have time"

I want to get my brakes done before leaving, not sure if I want to "upgrade" or just regular maintenance. I don't want to go to a shop and ask them what should I do, for obvious reasons, and if you talk with me for 5 mins you'd realize how much do I know about cars/trucks .... really, I'm an easy prey for shop owners, that's why I come to you guys when I need honest advice.

if you would recommend an online vendor and can add links to the suggested parts I'd appreciate it (no, I don't need you to come and install them for me )

Another "question" is what would you like to see on a hood ? I'm thinking about wrapping/partially wrap the hood of my sonic blue 04 Edge. I was thinking Matte Black on the raised parts of the hood, or maybe a solid color over the whole hood.

I'll look for pics later for some inspiration, but you always have good ideas, and I always get stuck on the "creative" part of the deal

I'm painting the frame to spruce it up a little and installing a Peragon cover I received yesterday.

Thanks a lot for reading my post

Wirelessly posted

Is the truck going with you when you leave the states?

May sound like a stupid question but if it's sitting for a year while your deployed (if your military) then I would wait until after you get back to change the brakes.

not military, I'm leaving for good, permanent relocation, or going back home, put it the way you like it :)

trying to do some stuff here while I have some money, once I get there all my funds will go into getting my new biz started and buying a home.

I want the truck to be my daily driver (short distances there) and also would wrap it to promote my shop. Where I'm going there are no Edge's, just 4 door rangers and 99% of them diesel, so my "sport" looks are going to be an eye catcher :)

I've always had great luck dealing with rockauto.com for parts.
Some on here have recommended LMCtruck but I have never dealt with them.

Are the slotted rotors any different than the normal rotors? Do they remain cooler and give you better performance or is just for looks ?

What about pads ?

Slotted rotors are for increased cooling on race cars, they won't do much for your truck except increase pad wear.

Just get some premium quality rotors (they cost twice as much and last twice as long) and some ceramic pads. You will notice a nice improvement and it should only cost you $100 more than buying the cheap stuff.

I have noticed a big diffrence running drilled and slotted rotors. Bought them off ebay 2yrs ago have nothing but positive to say. If you are running a bigger tire then stock it helps alot.
