Broke fuel filter clip! where do I get one?
So I changed my plugs today with no problems, only took about 30 minutes, Its easy with the body lift installed, the passenger side ones you get to by removing your gap guard and theyre right there!
Anyways, I went on to replacing the fuel filter and the first clip I tried prying out and broke it. The other two I realized how simple it was after I came on and looked up the how to :headache: So the two orange clips are fine and the hose with the green clip (hopefully just a return) I have held on by a zip tie. I called autozone and advanced auto and they do not carry the clip. Where can I get one? Online? Or would a ford dealer have one? Or does anyone have one lying around they can mail me? Hopefully they are something I can snap in and doesnt require replacing the whole hose. |
How about Napa? I'd call them over autozone etc.
I'll bet that it will either be a dealer only part, OR you have to get the entire hose.
...or, BOTH.
I think you have to get the entire hose, its really expensive at the dealer too. Time to go junkyard hunting.
I broke one too. i went to autozone ant they had them in packs of 8. it was like $4. just know the diamiter of your line.
same here
x3, Ive seen them at Autozone as well.
If it is the type that you push down and pull the line off then it is a dealer only part and you have to buy the whole hose. I wanna says its close to $200.
**** ya it is, theres two hoses with orange clips, and one with a green clip. You push in on the clip and the hose slides off. The green one broke, so your saying I need the whole new hose??? screw that Im leaving it held on with a zip tie lol.
isnt the hose held on by suction anyways?
well wtf I went to napa and autozone and no one could help, they could not find the part in the computer or book and none of the packages of clips they carry looked like what I need.
I broke the one on my F150, I just went to napa and got a pack of them they where ford 5/16 fuel line clips. Go to the dealer and ask what they say.
the dealer told me there is no where I can get the clip, it is built into the hose they only sell black and white clips, and only green will fit. I have to replace the hose, which is over $300.
Couldn't I cut the end of the hose off and put a different type of connector on? |
guys?
No then you will need a different connector on your fuel filter.
Why not go to a junk yard? |
well they told me I wouldnt be able to pull out the clip, it will brake because its a loop, I dont think it has an opening in it
Then get the whole line
or you could just ductape it on with red duct tape

Duct tape is used for many things, but this should not be one of them:crazy: |
alright ill start calling around to some junkyards, do you know if the other side of the line us the same?
effexfour has an 05 FX4 L2 that he is parting out. It looks like you Ranger is also a SuperCab and his is only 2 yrs newer. I would suspect the gas lines are the same. Maybe you should contact him and discuss it.

Alright thanks Gary, I PM'd him

Temporary fix
If you are unable to get a clip the simplest way to rig it till you can get the clip is to shove a zip tie where the clip would go and make shore it's the width of the clip, then zip it up. This will hold and you will not have any leaks. But still replace the clip as soon as you can.
