Bug Spray to Clean Headlights (WARNING)
 

Hey guys,

So I saw a new trend that many people were telling me about and it is to use bug spray to clean headlights. I wanted to look into how it works and if it really works so I made a video all about it. People have videos on YouTube showing amazing initial results, but is it real and does it last?

Let me know what you think of the video and let me know what you have used to clean headlights (and did it work well)?

Interesting but I would still use restoration kits from 3m and Mothers.

Those are pretty expensive right? I like the good ol toothpaste method. And if that is not abrasive enough, I sand them.

I have seen the "Off" insect repellant video and am anxious to give it a try. Not sure how easy it will be to find it in stores now that Fall is here. I tried Turtle Wax brand's headlight restoration product and wasn't too impressed. It includes 4 color-coded pads with decreasing levels of abrasiveness that you are to use in order. It seems that Chris Fix has duplicated this process with store-bought wet-sand paper - probably at a decent cost savings. I have also seen a video a woman created showing this done with a paste made of baking soda and water. Naturally, all methods work in the videos!

UPDATE: I should have watch the "Off" video Fix did before posting the above. The one I watched on Facebook made no mention of melting the lens and short-term results!!! It's not clear to me whether a thorough rinsing afterwards extends the "clear" period. Seems like it should.

Just wait till thursday! I will have a new video (that I am editing now) on how to make your headlights permanently clear!!!
