I read about a couple of older folks here in the Cleveland area that were driving on city streets that had water on them, the next thing they knew the water rose and the streel level went down under a freeway ramp and their car was submerged and they both drowned. It only took them a short time to get into trouble. If they would have turned a different way, they would have survived.

Water can be very dangerous.

I'm not discounting the potential dangers of water however I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that dunking your vehicle into a mudhole is a bit different than navigating a flooded city street.

Look, if you want to dunk your beloved Ranger into a mud hole that's up to you, I prefer to keep my Ranger out of the mud as much as possible.

This reminds me of the genius who drove his new Blazer out on Lake Erie to do some ice fishing. The ice broke up and all he could do was watch his new Blazer float away, then finally sink. Then he tried to collect insurance to cover his loss........ hahahahahaha.....

It's not a submarine, it's a truck. Maybe next time buy a submarine and get your kicks.
Tell me a truck that is meant to offroad?

How would it ruin your brakes?

Jeep, and wet brakes don't work as well as dry brakes. Just driving thru a puddle can mess up your brakes.

I don't know any Jeeps that are MADE for offroad. They just have great offroad potential.

back in the day yes, jeeps where made for offroad. 1980s + no, unless its ARMY issued type of thing.

You brakes get wet and they dry up in about 2 secs, how did that hurt them?

I think I would be more worried about getting water in my diffs, seals, bearings ect.

You've never had your brakes fail when they are wet ?? I have.

I drive on rainy days but I know to take it easy and drive slower than usually and leave more room for slowing down. Tailgating on rainy days is not a good idea. Even when the pavement is wet you can hydro plane. Never heard of that ??

Well I think everybody drives on rainy days, I have never had brakes fail from being wet or know anybody that has had their brakes fail from being wet. Hydroplaning has nothing to do with your brakes. So yes I guess I have heard of hydroplaning. However you still have not enlighten me on how the brakes become "messed up"

Fail? Like completely go out? No One time in my dodge dakota I went into a big puddle and came out and slammed on my brakes and they where slow for a second. They might temporary not work as good, but they won't fail. You might have other issues.

As for hydroplaning what does that have to do with brakes?

Okay you guys win, go drive your trucks down the middle of a river. See if I care. I'm outta here, and don't send me anymore e-mails requesting money for R-F decals, i don't belong here, I am not a mudder, and have no desire to have my stock truck lifted. I do not belong on this forum .

In Minnesota your vehicle is covered by insurance if it falls thru the ice. this is due to the thousands of people who ice fish and actually live in makeshift "towns" on the larger lakes.
I spoke with my agent, who said, "it's a myth that your vehicle isn't covered when driving on a frozen lake"

And you wonder why your insurance rates are so high...

Don't be like that dude. The Ranger-Forum is all about bringing Ranger owners together big and small. No one holds it against anyone if they leave their truck stock, or lower it, or lift it to the sky.

Sure, the majority of the people on here are 4x4s that has some sort of lift, even if it's just a tire lift by installing 31s. But there are also a ton of stockers and low rides.

I think the only people that really don't belong are people that don't contribute back what they take. Just ask, ask, ask and help anyone else.
