Buying a new ranger But time is running out!?

I have been cruising around in my 93 ranger for close to 6 years now and I keep putting off buying a replacement ranger. Most of that had to do with me being cheap and not wanting to buy brand new and some it had to do with me being picky to certain things they changed over the years. Well long story short I never found the perfect used ranger/perfect looking factory style and now I feel like I might have missed out.

I just read at a glance that the 2010 rangers lose the FX4 package and leather seats and all that good stuff. Do I rush out now and pick up a 2009 with no disk brakes or air bags for side/torso or even ESC or take my chances with a new cost cutting castrated ranger in a few months?

The FX4 is the only ranger I would cruise in and if it is dead so are my chances at buying a new ranger.

Does any body know more about the future for the ranger?

umm.... yeah. No more FX4 in 2010. I would get one now if you want a new one.

I know on the F-250 the FX4 is being dropped from a model but you can still get it as an option, are you sure its not the same for Rangers? I haven't looked at the order guide yet so idk.

I would not buy a ranger at this point. This is comming from a person who has owned 2 rangers, happily (im counting my Mazda here)

Lets be smart about this. The truck is completely out dated... if you shop around you can find a deal on a more up to date truck that while hold its value better.

Now think about what happens when a vehicle hits the end of its lifetime for production... they get sold off very cheaply....

I can recall the last of the Cavaliers selling brand new for $8900 up here in canada.. when 2 years earlier they were $14000 cars.

Same will happen to you.... you will buy an outdated 2010 ranger... then early 2011 they will be giving away rangers..... under cutting your resale value.

(i guess you could buy a 2011 if you can wait that long, but your saying you want to buy now....)

Think about it.

You raise a good point there. I know there will be leftovers from this year I guess my only concern was not being able to order exactly what I wanted from the factory.

With some luck I could hold out and buy a model year straggler that is relatively cheap and fits my criteria. Going to the city later tonight so I will browse the lots there and see what there going for right now.

You can equip a 2009/10 Sport 4x4 with pretty much everything a FX4 has except the tutone paint, seats, and torson limited slip, So unless those are ur main buying points ur still good.
