A/c, keys

I just bought a 99 Ranger just to have a truck. Is there a vin decoder somewhere that would help me determine what was factory? Vin number is: 1FTYR10VXXPB53478, v6 longbed, white, A/T. PB and PS.

The A/C is not working. I put in about a half can of freon, but still blows warm air and probably didn't change anything with the freon. I did notice that the compressor is cycling, 3 seconds on, 6-8 seconds off.

The key has a chip in it according to the tester at Home Depot. What is the cheapest way to get more keys? The guy I bought it from only had one key but I would like to have several. I had AAA make me a plastic one and it opens the doors OK and unlocks the ignition but won't start it. Is there an aftermarket source for chip keys?

I bought a replacement tail light from channeladvisor.com and fit perfectly, cost $27 including tax with free shipping. Now I am looking at either polishing the lenses or for under $60 I can get brand new ones.

Thanks, GWB

If you had 2 keys with the chip you could buy one, have it cut and program it yourself but I think that only works if you have two keys.

My 2000 did the same thing with the AC and I had to replace the compressor

Ebay for keys but you need 2 original keys to program additional keys. So you would have to go to the dealer to get a second main key programmed.

dealer will have to cut you keys sense you only have one. sounds like you have a sensor are switch out on the ac are some one has put stopleak in it and stoped the system up. and welcome to the site

Pick up 2 keys off ebay that way you will have 3 keys so if you ever loose one you still have 2 and you can program a spare. I went to a local locksmith and had my second key cut and programmed for $45. The local dealer here wanted $90 plus I had to buy the key from them.
